We believe in sustainable farming
Sustainable farming is essential in producing superior, higher quality wine,
and guarantees the viability of our vineyards for future use. We are committed to
using processes that minimize our environmental impact, preserve the native ecosystems
and nurture the soil.
Highlight of our commitment to sustainable winemaking:
- Using lightweight glass for wine bottles
- Applying Integrated Pest Management methods in our vineyards to reduce and
eliminate the need for insecticides, pesticides and herbicides
- Collecting and reusing rainwater to use in the vineyards and winery
- Using planting techniques that allow us to reduce irrigation
- Incorporating handpicking
- Using grape pomace, stems and leaves as both compost in the vineyards and
also as cattle feed given free of charge to local farmers
While employing these methods are costly and labor intensive, we believe that
they are important in contributing not only to the environment and ecology, but
also to the wine and consumer’s health.
